The Hostellers Sailing Club offers day sailing and dinghy cruising during the summer and country walking during the winter. The HSC suits all levels of sailing experience including complete beginners. Most members live in London/ Essex/ Southeast England, we also now have a few in Devon. We keep a club owned Wayfarer dinghy on a mooring at Paglesham on the River Roach in Essex. |
Events:
At this time of year we would normally expect to have some HSC events to annouce on our website but, for reasons I probably do not have to explain, we have no definite plans for HSC events at the time of writing (end of January 2021). If the current restrictions are relaxed in time, we may consider an Easter outing, probably to the Tenby area of Wales which we had been planing to visit last year.
10 to 16 May 2021 - Semaine du Golfe
Further details from Semaine du Golfe website - click the flag top right to read it in English!
The Semaine du Golfe boating festival is still advertised as going ahead in May, so that could be a possiblity if travel abroard is permissible by then. I would say that there has been an HSC presence at SduG for at least the past ten years and we do hope to go again sometime! Mind you, people considering taking boats to France on road trailers will need to check for new rules now that the UK has left the European Union.

6 to 12 September 2021 - Charante Maritime Cruise
Miles Dent is aranging a third dinghy cruise in company in the Charante Maritime in west France. This is far enough ahead that we can be hopeful that it will not be affected by the virus. HSC members took part in the two earlier events that Miles arranged and we enjoyed them a lot - a few pictures from the cruise in 2018 are below.

The sailing club at Fouras Sud gave us a special reception and invited the town Mayor along!
Gerald's boat on route from Fouras Sud to La Flotte - one of the quite rare occasions when there really was not enough wind to sail

Our whole fleet alongside the pontoon at the sailing base of the Voile-aviron dans les Pertuis (VAP), a French dinghy cruising club so a bit like the HSC.
